What IS Search Engine Marketing

Search Engine Marketing (SEM) is different than Search Engine Optimization (SEO) in one key aspect: it entails advertising on search engine results pages (SERP‘s). Every time someone searches something online they come across SEM and SEO results. SEO is the organic results i.e. free while SEM is being paid per click (PPC).

The image on the left is a perfect example of what SEM entails. Now, while there is a lot that goes into purchasing those slots; such as extensive keyword research – conversion tracking / analyzing and reporting.
