Back From Vacation

Well I’m “officially” back from my family vacation and have to be honest it is quite tough getting back in the swing of things. While on vacation I made some observations I hope I’m able to bring to you all about marketing and social media.

Until then I’m going to catch up on all my emails and task I missed out on for the past week and half while I played with my 4 year old son in the Gulf of Mexico. There is nothing more enjoyable then sharing an experience like seeing an ocean for the first time. The smiles and laughter are priceless.

Time Waits For No Man

I’ve written about opportunity on several cases and as I approach a much needed vacation with the family I find myself already in vacation mode. Although I have work to do and I’m finishing it up I keep glancing at the calendar dates and think about the various projects I’m involved in.

I can see myself planning out every detail possible so get things going by Memorial Day on a lot of them. Yet, I know I’ll be missing out a few items as I try to enjoy the sun and beach of Florida next week.

Does it Matter?

It depends. When I was starting up HipHopRemix and gaining ground I found myself literally working myself to death. I was involved TOO much. I have sensed backed off and decided to work on projects that take minimal time or those involved know my schedule. This way I make sure everyone is in the loop as much as possible and I don’t have to worry about deadlines of big projects.

As the title suggest time waits for no man and while this is true – we can’t wait for time. If opportunity knocks and we miss it then guess what, we were suppose to miss it. Don’t worry about missed opportunities instead review that opportunity and see the pitfalls and you’ll notice that it would’ve taken up too much of your time with no ROI.

What’s In A Domain Name

It’s a simple question with no simple answer. A domain name if you have figured it out just yet is the website address or referred to as an URL. A domain can say a lot about you and your products brand and/or service. It tells possible customers how you’re associated with the product.

A question that explore this question would be – would you rather buy from “Ebay.com” or “Ebay.Blogspot.com”? If you were searching for Zune software (as I’ve been doing recently) would you download the software from “Mp3Software.com” or “ZuneForum.com”?

The abvoius answer is that of straight to the point in reference domain.

When doing business online we need to make sure our domain name says something about our product/service. Is it our brand? Does it represent us? These are important questions and need to be answered before going online. When starting a business you didn’t just “pick” a business name – you developed one. The same principles come into effect when picking a domain name.

When I picked Driven Media Group LLC for my business I had an idea behind it. I knew where it was going (and still do) and looked into developing the brand that went with it. One thing I was happy about was going from “Driven Media Group” to “DrivenMG” – you google that and you’ll see nothing BUT Driven Media Group information. The point was to become a face to the name. The domain does this same thing.

So, what does your domain say about you?

Quick Status Update

Just wanted to touch base with everyone that there is a reason of my lack of posting. A few weeks ago my wife and I found out that our 4 year old son had to have his tonsils out and we are prepping for our first ‘real’ family vacation. So, in order to do so we needed to get the tonsils out…NOW

Last Friday we were able to get this knocked out and our little man did fantastic. I am really proud of him and how he can handle tough situations. He’s growing up into a fine little man. Nonetheless though I’ve been more worried about it since it would be the first time he would be “going under”. As routine as the surgery might be you never know a 4 year old’s reaction to an anesthesiologist.

So, after a weekend of Popsicle and ice cream and lots and lots of (video) games he’s on the road to recovery. It looks like the vacation is on and he’ll be able to see the ocean finally.

Now that all that is handled and taken care of I will be back writing up some good content. I have some possible link-ups that I’m working on and should be wrapped up shortly and in doing so I will be sharing some great advertising information.
