Finding your Social Market
On my quest to become a social media strategist I am sometimes finding it difficult to join all these social networks specially ones that I don’t think are that good but are some how growing in the hundreds of thousands of users. Users who I am trying to market to (not SPAM!). So, how can I embrace these networks?

You fake it. You fake it until you not only like it but LOVE IT. Don’t be phony about using the social network talk about it and you’ll be suprised how many people feel the same way you do then in the same sentence will tell you how much they love it themselves. You will find yourself hearing about features that you never knew existed on the network and all of a sudden a light bulb will ding.
Did you think I was going to come up with some guru response to the question? HA! I can’t STAND myspace anymore. I admit whole heartly I was one of the early adapters of the social network and made sure my ‘circle’ knew about it and encouraged them to join, almost daily. Looking back I wish I knew what I know now and how I could really catipult to the top of myspace utilizing the media. Nonetheless, I was an advocate for the social community and it wasn’t until close to a year ago that I started to pull away from it. It become spammy and in my eyes a waste of time. Yet, the more I utilized it I was able to see some certain stats improve so I stayed with it.
In the end we need to grab hold of every social market possible in order to market to the community members (not SPAM!). If we do this then you will be suprised how much your circle can grow just because you are an early adapter in that community and welcome your connections from other communities. Soon, your circle of a few hundred and moved towards a few thousand to a few hundred thousand. So on and so forth.
The bottom line is not to be fake and try to enjoy that community as much as possible. Also, to be active and in reality if you are apart of so many networks it will be nearly impossible to be everywhere at once yet with proper planning (I’ll talk more on that later this week) you can quickly grow your network in a matter of a few months.
