Oh man I wish this really did happen…oh wait it actually does in life. I just wish sometimes the knocks would be just a little bit louder. Maybe a boom of some sort that way I could recognize it. Better yet maybe the old AOL “You Got Mail” singsong instead with “You Have Opportunity”. Anyone feel this way?

From Google Calendars, Black Berry’s to Outlook Expresses Calendar we are a culture of steady planning. Nothing wrong with that whatsoever. Yet, the trend of planning and not living is starting to take over. We are so worried about making sure we know what is going on next weekend we are missing out the time we are spending together THIS weekend.
How many times have you been at work and a project comes across your desk and you need the help of some of your coworkers? Only to find out that they have no interest in helping or they are very difficult to work with. Yet, do we ever take the time to ask “why?” or are we quick to shrug it off as them just being difficult?
In certain times in life we feel alone. We feel distant from those around us. I know even when you’re surrounded by loved ones you can feel utterly alone. It can be a medical condition geared towards depression. It can also mean you haven’t dealt with being alone. So, how do we handle being alone?
Sunday school constantly teaches us that the “meek shall inherit the earth.” Yet, living in today’s world that thought can have a lasting effect on us from our personal life to our working life. How can we be “meek” when we come across everyday obstacles. It can hard and downright difficult – impossible? It can depend.
When I was younger (remember I’m only 27) I was accustomed to the hospital from stiches to a broken arm. I always thought I was superman and nothing could stop me. Slow me down? Yes, but stop and kill me? Never! Man, was I wrong. It wasn’t until my teens I started learning this.
By the title I can only assume you think I’m going to have a compiled list of what wise men have said over the years about finding your purpose in life. Or some religious perspective on how our purpose in life needs to be a certain way. Well, I can assure you none of those are what I’m going to write about.
In times of trouble what do you do? The fight or flight response is automatic and extremly difficult to control yet we do as we grow to understand our own behaviors. Yet, we are human and are prone to over-react in situations but afterward we can reflect on our actions.
You know the saying as a kid , Sticks and stones may break our bones, but words will never hurt me? As children we say this and believe it to become stronger internally yet the fact of the matter is that the saying is not even close to what we feel.
